ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis finished off its regular season campaign with a 6-1 victory over the Collin College Cougars. The Mavericks won in doubles play and took all five of its singles wins in straight sets.

UTA (6-13) also honored Elizaveta Mladentseva with its senior day ceremony prior to what turned out to be a fruitful showing for the graduate student. 

Paired with Sofia Selle on Court 1 in doubles play, Mladentseva picked up an easy 6-2 win over the Collin College team of Marqaylar Tere and Nobuhle Zungu. Mladentseva then faced Tere on singles Court 1 and cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory. 

The Mavericks had similar success in their remaining bouts, the lone defeat coming on singles Court 4. Natalia Gonzalez and Tasnime Ahamout had strong days, first picking up a win as a duo on doubles Court 2 by a 6-2 margin before going on to win their singles matches as well. 

Ahamout's win on Court 6 was the first singles match to finish. The freshman won by a combined score of 12-1 across both sets. Gonzalez was similarly dominant, winning on Court 5 by a score of 6-1 in each set.

Selle dominated her Court 3 match to start, winning the first set 6-0 and going ahead 5-2 in the second. Collin College's Camila Luzardo rallied to tie the second set 5-5, but Selle settled and took the next two games to win the matchup.

Diana Kaibara essentially mirrored Mladentseva's efforts on the top court in her Court 2 singles bout, defeating Zungu by the same 6-2, 6-0 margin.

With the regular season in the books, UTA will now prepare for the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. The tournament is slated to run April 17-18 at the Arlington Tennis Center. The matchups are still to be determined.
