EUGENE, Ore.– UT Arlington Men's Track and Field athlete Jayden Haynes competed in the USATF U20 Championships, which kicked off Thursday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The Plano native is one of two Mavericks competing at the event.

Haynes ran in the 400-meters preliminary round, placing 14th with a time of 46.97 seconds. The time does not qualify the UTA freshman for the 400m final, which takes place at 5:43 p.m. CST Friday.

Fellow UTA freshman Abisayo Gbakinro will wrap up the Mavericks trip to Eugene when he competes in the men's triple jump. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
