UT Arlington Men's Golf inks transfer Joseph Hayden

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Men's Golf has signed transfer Joseph Hayden for the 2026-27 season. Hayden spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Santa Clara — where his younger brother was also on the team — and joins UTA as a graduate student.

The Dublin, California native competed in 12 events during his time with the Broncos, all of which came in his first three seasons. Hayden had a scoring average of 72.66 across 35 rounds at Santa Clara, the low 18-hole score for his collegiate career being a 4-under-par 68 which he recorded twice during his sophomore year.

Hayden's sophomore season — coming in 2023-24 — is where he saw most of his action on the course. The Dublin native played 21 rounds over seven tournaments, carding eight rounds below par and four at par. Hayden also recorded the lowest single-season scoring average of his career at 72.14

Highlighting his busy 2023-24 season, Hayden recorded both the best leaderboard finish and low-tournament score of his collegiate career at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. Competing as an individual, the then-sophomore recorded scores below par in all three rounds, including a 4-under 68 in the second round that matched the low 18-hole score of his career.

That culminated in Hayden finishing with a 6-under 210, placing him a tie for sixth. It was one of three tournaments that the Dublin native finished below par at that season.

In his last action at Santa Clara, Hayden competed in three tournaments during the 2024-25 season — his junior year. The Dublin native shot below par in three of his nine rounds with his best performance again coming at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, where he finished tied for 14th with an overall score of a 2-under 214.
