BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — UT Arlington women's golf wrapped up the opening day of the Lady Clerico in fifth place after completing the first two rounds Monday at Hillcrest Country Club.

The Mavericks opened with a 13-over-par 301 before carding a 20-over 308 in the second round. UTA sits at 33-over 609 through 36 holes, six strokes behind tournament leader Houston Christian and five strokes behind Lamar, UTRGV and Oral Roberts, which are tied for second at 604.

Carmen Gonzalez Lo-A-Njoe led the way for the Mavericks, finishing the day tied for second individually at 3-over 147. Gonzalez Lo-A-Njoe opened with an even-par 72, UTA's lowest round of the day, before following with a 3-over 75 in the second round. She enters the final round three strokes behind Lamar's Matilda Samervong, who leads the field at even-par 144.

Camilah Porras also finished the opening day inside the top 10. Porras recorded a 1-over 73 in the first round and a 5-over 77 in round two to sit tied for seventh at 6-over 150.

Raeley Hickman sits tied for 19th after rounds of 77 and 78 put her at 11-over 155. Chloe De Verner followed at 13-over 157 after posting a 79 in the opening round and improving by one stroke with a 78 in the second.

Rounding out the UTA lineup was Kylie Ruston, who sits tied for 36th at 20-over 164 after rounds of 81 and 83.

Houston Christian holds the team lead at 27-over 603, while Lamar, UTRGV and Oral Roberts are tied for second at 28-over 604. UTA enters the final round three strokes ahead of sixth-place East Texas A&M.

The Mavericks will close out the Lady Clerico with the third and final round at Hillcrest Country Club tomorrow morning.
