AS A SOPHOMORE (2022-23) | Game-By-Game Stats
Averaged 2.7 points and 3.2 rebounds over 28 games … made four starts, all of which came in a five-game stretch to start the month of February … season- and career-high 14 points against UT Rio Grande Valley (Jan. 19), going 5-7 from the floor and narrowly missing his first-career double-double with a season-high-tying nine rebounds … also made his only 3-pointer of the season in that UTRGV contest … nine points each against Sam Houston (Feb. 4) and Tarleton (Feb. 6) to represent his 2nd most during the year; added nine rebounds versus Tarleton to just fall short of another potential double-double … four points, six rebounds and a career-high four assists versus Howard Payne (Nov. 28) ... six points and six rebounds at Seattle U (Mar. 3), representing his most points in nearly a month … averaged 11.3 minutes per game.
 
AS A FRESHMAN (2021-22) | Game-By-Game Stats
Averaged 3.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game … responsible for three of UTA’s six double-figure rebound games on the year: 10 at San Diego State (Nov. 20), 10 at Oral Roberts (Dec. 16) and a career-high 11 versus ULM (Jan 15), five of which came on the offensive end … 46 offensive rebounds were the 3rd-most on the team (leader: 48) … 11 games of 5+ rebounds … team-best three steals, a career high, at Oklahoma (Dec. 19) … recorded 12 points in his first collegiate start versus Mary Hardin-Baylor (Nov. 13) … most points versus a D-I opponent with eight at ULM (Feb. 10) ... shot 47.6 percent from the floor (39-82) … played in 27 of UTA’s 29 games, missing one of those contests due to a non-COVID illness at Troy (Feb. 23); the other was a coach’s decision at South Alabama (Feb. 25) … averaged 14.4 minutes per game.

HIGH SCHOOL
Averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks per game as a senior ... named to the Class 6A First Team All-District and All-Region teams by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches ... led his team to a 20-3 record and a district championship, finishing No. 2 in the state and No. 13 in the nation by MaxPreps ... accomplished something that no other player ever has at the 2021 DFW High School All-Star Showcase – which featured 11 Division-I signees at the time – when he was named both the Unsigned Diamonds MVP and the All-Star MVP ... those honors came after two game performances of 19 points on 8-9 shooting, five rebounds and four steals and 24 points on 11-13 shooting, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Born on Sept. 24, 2002 … son of Montez and Donisha Young … has and older brother, Davion, who is in the Air Force, and two younger siblings: Zion and Makaila … father was in the Marines … born in San Diego and lived in California before moving to Virginia when he was in 4th grade … spent 6th-9th grade in Japan before settling in Texas … undecided major.
