Buhmeyer spent the 2022-23 season as the Kentucky men’s basketball assistant strength and conditioning coach, aiding in the data-driven day-to-day fitness and performance of the program. He joined the Wildcats in July of 2022 after serving in the same role with the Furman men’s basketball team since January of 2021.

With UK, Buhmeyer designed and led player performance sessions, oversaw the creation of individualized prep sessions and created a player readiness database to provide quantitative analysis for player practice and game readiness. At Furman, Buhmeyer instituted performance plans for men’s basketball and men’s golf, helped with annual planning, periodization, individual program design and mobility training and oversaw the implementation of player nutrition and supplementation.

Prior to his time with the Paladins, Buhmeyer was the strength and conditioning coach at Charleston Collegiate High School (2020-21). He was also the head strength coach with BDA International, managing all aspects of sports performance for the agency’s 2023 NBA Pre-Draft athletes.

Before venturing into athletics, Buhmeyer served five years in the United States Marine Corps (2010-15) as a designated marksman and martial arts instructor. He conducted combat operations on multiple deployments to both Afghanistan and Africa, and was awarded 11 medals and honors for actions performed in a combat environment.

Buhmeyer is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a Level 1 USA Weightlifting Coach. He is also a certified nutrition coach by Precision Nutrition and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Buhmeyer earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business from Clemson in 2018, and his Master of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in coaching from Georgia Southern in 2021.
