Matt Alberghini is entering his second year with the Maverick softball program. He now serves as the defensive coach, primarily working with the infield and outfield. He will continue to play a significant role in the recruiting of future Maverick softball players as well as oversee the program's player development technologies, including DartFish, FlightScope and Blast Motion.
Â
Alberghini comes to UTA after spending one season (2019-20) at Boston College, developing under head coach Amy Kvilhaug as a volunteer assistant coach. While with BC, he served as the team’s hitting, outfield and catching coach.
Â
Prior to Boston College, Alberghini was a graduate assistant at the University of Washington (2018-19). In one year in Seattle, the Huskies went 52-9, winning a conference championship for the first time in over a decade and stamping their ticket for a trip to the Women's College World Series. Under the direction of head coach Heather Tarr, Alberghini oversaw video, practice and game day operations, while assisting in statistical analysis for the Huskies.
Â
Alberghini has four additional years of experience working at the University of Pittsburgh as a volunteer assistant coach (2018-19) and Sun Belt foe, Coastal Carolina, as the head student manager (2014-17).
Â
He graduated with a B.S. in Recreation and Sport Management from Coastal Carolina in 2017 before obtaining his master's in education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington in 2019.
