Cameron Villarreal is in his first year as a graduate assistant coach with the UTA men's and women's track and field program.

Villarreal returned to his hometown of Arlington, Texas, after a standout running career at Texas A&M, where he is listed among the school's all-time top 10 lists in six different events.

Villarreal was an NCAA West Preliminary Round qualifier twice in the 1500 meters (2015, 2018) and once in the 5000 meters (2018). In addition, he helped the Aggies to SEC Outdoor Championships titles in both 2014 and 2017.

In cross country, he was named to the 2013 SEC All-Freshman team. In 2015, he placed eighth at the SEC Championships and took 12th at the NCAA South Central Regional.

He was listed on the Texas A&M Athletic Director's Honor Roll seven times and was named to the SEC Honor Roll three years. In addition, he was a 2014 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team member.

He graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering in May of 2018. Villarreal starred as a prep at Arlington Martin High School.
