ARLINGTON, Texas...Just one week after junior Katy Cox became the career softball strikeout leader at The University of Texas at Arlington she was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 31. This is Cox's fourth honor in the last five weeks.

Cox struck out 16 batters as she threw her first no-hitter of the year, and seventh shutout, in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with Texas-San Antonio. In Sunday's finale, Cox struck out 12 while scattering six hits as the Lady Mavs defeated UTSA, 9-2. Cox owns a 17-4 record and a league best 1.31 ERA.

The first place Lady Mavericks (24-12, 14-1) return to action this weekend, April 5-6, when they travel to San Marcos to face second place Southwest Texas in a three-game Southland Conference series. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Softball Complex.
