ARLINGTON, Texas - Freshman Monika Peciulionyte (Siauliai, Lithuania) made an impressive debut as she rolled through the field to win the singles championship and senior Marketa Cizova (Prague, Czech Republic), returning after a knee injury forced her to miss the 2003 spring schedule, teamed with freshman Daniela Novakova (Prague, Czech Republic) to win the doubles title at the 2003 Lady Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., Sunday. Peciulionyte defeated players from Oklahoma State, Wichita State to reach the quarterfinals where she defeated teammate Cizova, the 2002 Southland Conference Player of the Year, in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-3. Peciulionyte knocked off Arkansas' Melissa Cornett in the finals, 6-1, 6-2. Meanwhile, Cizova and Novakova defeated Oklahoma State's Jana Karaskova and Katia Kolunskya, 9-7. "It was a tournament for us," said first-year coach Christian Wassmer. "Our ladies did a great job against some outstanding competition." The women's teams travels to Waco for the Baylor Invitational while the men will open the fall season at the Beaumont Invitational. Both tournaments begin Friday and conclude on Sunday
