LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Jackie Adamschick scored a game-high 25 points on 5-of-7 shooting from behind the arc in leading No. 24 Villanova to a 59-53 victory over Texas-Arlington in the consolation game of the Lady Rebel Shootout.
The two teams battled back-and-forth over the games first 10 minutes as neither team was able to open up more than a three-point advantage. The Lady Mavs earned their first advantage of the game at the 12:18 mark as Ashley Bobb rattled a three-pointer in from the top of the key.
Maryann Abanobi pushed the advantage to three with a driving layup, but Betsy McManus quickly countered with a triple to tie the score back up.
After another Abanobi field goal gave UTA a two-point lead, the Wildcats proceeded to go on a 13-2 run over the next 6:34 sparked by back-to-back three pointers by Adamshick.
UTA (2-2) would get as close as five points in the first half as Tabitha Wesley beat the shot clock with a bank shot from the foul line and Abanobi made a strong drive and layup to cut the deficit to 29-24. Wesley would close out the scoring with a three pointer with seven seconds remaining for the 59-53 final margin.
