Texas-Arlington's game against Big-12 powerhouse Oklahoma State will be televised in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by Fox Sports Southwest.
After going 1-2 in the BCA Classic, Texas-Arlington is looking to rebound tonight against Oklahoma State.
The Mavericks have fallen behind in the first half of all three games this season and have rallied in all three, just coming up short against both Miami and UNC-Greensboro.
Against the Hurricanes, the Mavericks fell behind by as many as 25 points in the first half, but rallied in the second half with a 22-2 run to cut the lead to as little as three points. The larger Hurricanes pulled away with clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch.
Versus UNC-Greensboro, Texas-Arlington fell behind by 11 points and rallied back to take a one-point lead with 4:34 left in the game, but the Spartans finished the game on a 20-7 run.
The Mavericks were down at halftime once again to Northern Arizona. This time the Mavericks responded with a 12-0 run in the second half which led them to their first victory.
Senior Jarrett Howell is leading the Mavericks at 17.0 points a game, hitting 56 percent (10-18) of his shots from long-range, while senior Steven Thomas is grabbing 7.3 rebounds a game for Texas-Arlington.
Oklahoma State is led by sophomore JamesOn Curry, who is the only returning starter from last year's "Sweet 16" team. The Wooden Award candidate averaged 9.4 points a game last season.
Oklahoma State holds an 8-1 advantage over the Mavericks in the series history. The two teams last played in 1995, with the Cowboys taking a 80-63 decision in Stillwater.
Tonight's game will tip off at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports Southwest in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It will also be the season-opener for the Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
UTA - Oklahoma State Connections The Cowboys have three players from the state of Texas on their roster. Freshmen Byron Eaton (Dallas), Roderick Flemings (Desoto) and Terrel Harris (Garland). The Mavericks have no players from Oklahoma on their roster.
Southpaw Starting Lineup? The Mavericks could have five left-handed players on the floor at one time. Guards Brady Dawkins, Rodrick Epps and Jarrett Howell, along with forwards Larry Posey and Anthony Vereen are all "wrong-handed". Texas-Arlington is second in Division I in that category, just behind Samford who has six left-handers.
