ENNIS, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington won its third straight match and improved its overall record to 9-4 as the Lady Mavericks blanked Louisiana-Lafayette 4-0 Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action.
The match was moved to an indoor facility in Ennis, Texas due to inclement weather in the Arlington area.
After doubles play was cancelled the squads went directly to single action where the Lady Mavs took control from the start.
No. 90 Pavla Mesterova made quick work of Tammy Day 6-0, 6-3 at the top singles flight to claim the first point for UTA and improve her No. 1 singles record to 10-0. Daniela Novakova snapped her losing streak with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Celine Van Weydeveld at the No. 2 spot while Monika Peciulionyte dropped Chanell Meijer at the No. 3 position. Anete Rozkalne battled to clinch the match with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 decision over Susan Linden at the No. 4 flight.
Texas-Arlington will return to action on April 1 when it plays host to Houston at 2 p.m.
