ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington women's tennis squad opened Southland Conference action with a 7-0 blanking of Nicholls State Saturday morning at the UTA Tennis Center.

UTA initiated the scoring with a sweep of the doubles flights to claim the first point.

The Lady Mavericks continued to dominate in singles play making quick work of the Colonels. Pavla Mesterova dropped Shamra Garner 6-1, 6-0 at the top flight while Anete Rozkalne downed Dorian Robichaux 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. In the three hole, Daniela Novakova handed Jennifer Rodriguez a 6-4, 6-4 decision and Monika Peciulionyte blanked Monique Javoy at the No. 4 position. Gretel Hach and Jessica Shepard closed out the scoring for the Lady Mavs at the fifth and sixth position, respectively.

UTA will meet Southwest Missouri State this afternoon at 2 p.m. and will continue Southland action Sunday when Southeastern Louisiana visits the UTA Tennis Center for a 10 a.m. match.
