DENTON, Texas - Just two days after clinching the Southland Conference regular season title, the Lady Mavericks dropped a non-conference match with North Texas, 4-3, at the Goldfield Tennis Center. The loss drops Texas-Arlington's season mark to 13-7.
The doubles point proved to be the difference as North Texas recorded wins at the top two doubles positions to claim the first team point. Monika Peciulionyte and Anete Rozkalne paired for an 8-2 victory over Holly Lee and Ingrid Stockinger at the No. 3 doubles flight.
Freshman Pavla Mesterova pushed her No. 1 singles mark to 17-0 after making quick work of Krysta Lee, 6-1, 6-1. Peciulionyte added to the Lady Mavs score with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Katherine Harris at the No. 3 position while Rozkalne rounded out UTA's scoring with a straight set victory at No. 4.
