ORLANDO, Fla. - Freshman Bryce Easton carded a two-over-par 146 to lead the UT Arlington men's golf team on the opening day of the 2007 Rio Pinar Invitational Monday.
The Mavericks aree tied for eighth place in the 18-team field with a two round total of 591, 19 strokes behind leader Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane has a three-stroke lead over Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Mocs had the lead after the opening round, but settled for a one-over-par 576.
Mississippi is third (579), followed by Louisville (583), South Florida (584), Southern Mississippi (585) and Furman (589).
UT Arlington is tied with South Alabama, one-stroke lead of Mississippi State, Ohio State and Wichita State.
UNC-Wilmington (596), Missouri (598), Mercer (603), Georgia Southern (607), Memphis (609) and Kansas State (614) round out the field.
The third and final round will be Tuesday on the par-72, 6,978-yard Rio Pinar Country Club course.
Easton is tied for 20th in the medalist standings.
Junior Zack Reeves had an afternoon round of 73 and is tied for 32nd with a 148. Freshman Michael van de Venter is also at 148 after a 75 in the second round.
Freshman Bobby Massa had rounds of 75 and 74 for a 149.
Senior Bryan Baker carded back-to-back 76s and is at 152 heading into the final round
