ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington committed two costly errors in the top of the eighth inning that led to three unearned runs and broke a tie ballgame as Texas State held off a late rally and completed the sweep of the Mavs with a 7-6 victory Sunday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Bobcats (19-8, 6-0 SLC) answered right back in the third as Guest walked and Thomas Field was hit by a pitch to start the inning. David Wood drove in both runners with an opposite field chopper that caught chalk just behind the third-base bag.

The Mavs responded in the bottom of the inning as they took advantage of a throwing error to score two runs. With one out, David Newby reached on a two-base throwing error by the third baseman and went to third on a wild pitch. After Slinkman walked, Matthew Otteman delivered a sacrifice fly to center and Burum would follow with an RBI single up the middle.

The Cats would regain the lead in the sixth as a walk and a hit by pitch would again come around to score on Elliott Babcock's single up the middle.

UTA tied the game in the seventh as Collin Garner walked and went to second on Slinkman's base on balls. Following a wild pitch, Otteman drove in a run with a groundout to the right side.

Rudy led the offense with three hits, while Slinkman, Burum and Radkowski each collected two. Burum, Otteman and Masters each drove in two runs.
