ARLNGTON, Texas - UT Arlington men's tennis will open the 2008 spring season against Baylor on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Waco at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The Mavericks are coming off a 10-12 season, in which they faced a multitude of nationally ranked teams and finished second in the Southland Conference. Coach Diego Benitez will look to sophomores Dmitry Minkin (2007 SLC Newcomer of the Year) and Gonzalo Bienzobas to help carry the load of another challenging schedule.
Saturday will also be the opening day of action for the No.4 ranked Baylor Bears as they will be hosting a triple-header including matches with Prairie View A&M, Southeastern Louisiana and UTA. The 2008 Bear tennis roster features six members who rank in the top 30 in the South Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
