Results

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mavericks (4-8 overall, 3-3 SLC) slid past Stephen F. Austin with a suspenseful 4-3 victory Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center. In the four hour match, UT Arlington continued to trade points with the Ladyjacks, but managed to never relinquish the lead.

The Mavericks started the afternoon by winning the doubles point, despite being down a doubles team. Doubles pair of sophomore Klara Jagosova and freshman Monika Hadvigerova defeated Stephen F. Austin's pair of Roxana Enica and Mary Harrison, 8-1. On court two, UTA continued to show dominance, winning 8-3.

In singles play, the Mavericks showed their strength and pulled out the win by taking courts two, three, and four. Hadvigerova gained the first singles point for UT Arlington against SFA's Harrison, 6-1, 6-2. Daiana Negreanu and Sara Pesic pulled out wins to secure the third conference win for the Mavericks. Negreanu beat out Gabriela Gadeva of the Ladyjacks, 6-2, 6-2.

UTA was tied with SFA, 3-3, until Pesic nailed the final point in a game winning tie-breaker which beat Smolinkova, 6-2, 7-6(4).

UT Arlington will travel to Corpus Christi to face the Islander on Friday, April 4. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will kick-off a three-match road trip for the Mavs.
