Little Rock, Arkansas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season after collecting a 6-1 win over UALR in Little Rock, Ark. this morning.
The Mavericks led the day off by collecting all three matches in doubles' action and the doubles' point.
Klara Jagosova and Katarina Micochova notched a 8-6 win over duo Marta Gomez-Jordana and Chantal Coolen while tandem Monika Hadvigerova and Daiana Negreanu handed Nathalia Garay and Anne Weijenborg a 8-1 setback playing in the number-two spot in the rotation.
Securing the final match was newcomer Maria Martinez-Romer and senior Sara Pesic who posted an 8-6 victory over Fanny Lopez and Sybille De Rochefort.
In singles' action, Hadvigerova collected a 6-3, 6-1 win against Weijenborg in the top singles' position while Negreanu recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Jordana and Jagosova earned a win over Coolen by a final scores of 6-0, 7-5 in the number-three spot in the lineup.
Martinez-Romer handed De Rochefort a 6-1, 6-2 setback while Manzanera dropped a 2-6, 3-6 decision against Rebecca Van Den Houte playing in the fifth singles' spot. Pesic finished the day off with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win against Fanny Lopez.
UTA travels to Houston, Texas for a meeting with Rice University on Saturday, January 31, with match time set for 1:30 p.m.
