Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team collected a 6-1 victory over the Tigers of Memphis University on Friday, February 13 at the UTA Tennis Center. With the win, UTA improves to 3-1 overall.
UT Arlington began the morning with doubles' competition, as the women collected two of the three matches and notched the doubles' point.
Newcomers Nikola Matovivoa and Ayram Edery dropped an 8-6 decision to Ashley Murdock and Sarah Irvin in the No. 1 position while Daiana Negreanu and Maria Martinez-Romer secured an 9-8 (5) win against Marjorie Ondeck and Robyn Jones in the No. 2 spot.
Monika Hadvigerova and Katarina Mlcochova handed Amanda Brown and Lindsey Wiseman an 8-3 loss in the No. 3 position.
The Mavericks continued their winning ways, taking five singles' matches from the Tigers. Hadvigerova led things off with a 4-6, 6-3 and 6-0 over Ondeck in the No. 1 position while Negreanu dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision against Murdock in the No. 2 spot.
In the No. 3 position, Mlcochova collected a 6-2, 6-2 win over Irvin while Martinez-Romer recorded a win over Dara Toulch by a final score of 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 position.
Matovivoa won her match with a final score of 6-4, 6-2 against Jones while Edery handed Brown a 6-2, 5-7 and 10-8 setback in the No. 6 spot.
Up next for the Mavs is a match-up against SMU on Sunday, February 15 at the UTA Tennis Center. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
