San Diego, Calif. - The women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision in the final day of the Barnes Collegiate Tennis Invitational on Friday, March 19 in San Diego, Calif.
UTA fell in doubles action, losing two of the three matches to the Aggies and headed into singles play down 1-0.
Top doubles team, Daiana Negreanu and Klara Jagosova suffered a 8-4 setback against Isabella Kulaif and Stephanie Eusebe while Maria Martinez-Romer and Nikola Matovivoa lost the No. 2 match by a final score of 9-8 to Laura Borguet and Sophia Marks.
Katarina Mlcochova and Monika Hadvigerova captured an 8-4 decision over Paulina Zuniga and Bianca Discordia in the No. 3 position.
Hadvigerova dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Marks in the No. 1 spot while Jagosova lost her match to Borguet by scores of 3-6, 7-6 and 6-1 in the No. 2 position.
Negreanu fell 7-6, 1-0 (ret) in the No. 3 spot to Eusebe while Mlcochova collected a 6-1, 6-4 win over Kulaif in the No. 4 position in the lineup.
In the No. 5 position, Martinez-Romer notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Discordia while Matovivoa handed Zuniga a 6-4, 6-3 loss in the No. 6 spot.
UTA returns back to conference action when they take on Sam Houston State on Saturday, March 28 in Huntsville, Texas. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
