High Winds at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin caused for many events, including a portion of the men's decathlon, to be postponed on Day 2 of the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Adolphus Jones finished eleventh in the men's decathlon with a total of 6980 points. Jones completed the final five events including pole vault, javelin throw and the 1500 meters competitions. These three events were delayed all day and took place late Thursday night due to the high winds.
Many other Maverick athletes were able to complete their events despite the unfavorable conditions. Junior Aundrea Williams and sophomore Dwight Robinson finished 15th and 24th in the men's 400 meter hurdles preliminaries, respectively. Williams ran a 53.23 and Robinson turned in a time of 54.04.
The men's 4X800 meter relay team finished fifth in the finals of that run with an impressive time of 7:38.72. That team is comprised of Ozie Hood, Darren Rous, ZacK Davis and Idilio Campos.
On the women's side, it's 4X800 meter relay team posted a swift time of 9:20.50 which was fast enough for seventh place. That team is made up of Perri Ford, Jennifer Carey, Christina Mose and Amanda McMahon.
Cory Carswell finished with no height in the university portion of the pole vault. The Marshall, Texas native scratched three times at 4.90 meters the opening height.
