San Antonio, Texas - UT Arlington suffered a 69-51 loss to UTSA Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas. UTA fell to 6-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Meghan Nelson led the Mavs with 15 points while Shalyn Martin collected her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Cold shooting and 13 first half turnovers by the Mavericks led to a 34-19 advantage for UTSA heading into the locker rooms.
Trouble continued for the Mavericks in the second half as Amber Gregg led the Roadrunners to their largest lead of the game of 21 points after sinking a pair of free throws with 15:02 left to play. UT Arlington cut the deficit to 12 points after a 9-0 run but the Roadrunners offense continued as they went ahead by 19 with 4:12 remaining.
The Roadrunners had three players finish in double-digit scoring including Whitney York who finished with 14 points and six rebounds.
The Mavericks finished the game shooting 28.8 percent from the field compared to UTSA's 41.5. They converted 18 points off the Mavs 23 total turnovers.
The Mavericks return to Texas Hall Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. for a meeting with Stephen F. Austin.
