Men Close Out Day Two at Rice Fall Invite

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Rice Fall Invitational at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium Saturday.

Mindaugas Celedinas suffered a loss in his second singles match to Daniel Whitehead of Texas in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-4. With only one loss in the tournament, Celedinas will face Sudanwa Sitaram of Texas tomorrow at noon.

After a loss in his first singles match Friday, newcomer Lucas Leppin was fired up in day two, winning 2-6, 7-5 and 6-4 against Peter Frank of Rice. Leppin will go head-to-head tomorrow at 10 a.m. against LSU's Mark Bowtell.

Sophomore Yauheni Yakauleu dropped a 4-6, 6-2 and 6-0 decision in the quarterfinals to Harry Fowler of Rice. Yakauleu will take on LSU's Julien Gauthier tomorrow at noon.

Freshman Nicolas Moreno battled hard against Chris Camillone of Texas but fell short, 6-7, 6-3 and 6-4. Moreno will now go head-to-head against James Langford of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Freshman Erik Hjertonsson suffered his first loss of the tournament to Philipp Seifert of Rice, 6-3, 6-2. With only one loss, Hjertonsson will face Oliver Borsos of LSU tomorrow at noon.

Senior Brieuc Hamon matched up against his teammate Giacomo Sano in the consolation bracket and recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win. Hamon will face Jonathan Chang of Rice tomorrow at 10 a.m. Sano will face another one of his teammates, David Subirats tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Subirats dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Chang in the singles D consolation bracket. In doubles competition, duo Celedinas and Leppin suffered a loss in the quarterfinals to Chris Camillone and David Holiner of Texas, 8-4. The teammates continue doubles action tomorrow at 9 a.m. when they take on LSU's Roger Anderson and Mark Bowtell.

Duo Hamon and Moreno dropped a 9-8 decision to Tachibana and Christian Saravia of Rice. Tomorrow the tandem faces LSU's Stefan Szacinski and Tom Knights at 9 a.m.

Yakauleu and Hjertonsson suffered an 8-6 loss to Phillip Seifert and Jonathan Chang of Rice. The duo will take on LSU's Cody Loup and Borsos tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Subirats and Sano won their consolation match against Loup and Borsos of LSU, 8-6. The duo will look to win the doubles B consolation bracket tomorrow when they take on Seifert and Chang of Rice.
