Antonia Hpkins finished second in the 200 meter dash

Gray performs well again at Sooner Open

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mavericks finished up day one at the Sooner Open with a strong showing.

For the women, junior Antonia Hopkins finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.99.

Senior All-American Jasmine Walls qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.59.

Fellow senior Megan Turner broke the UTA record in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:25.34 and finished first.

Jerono Patrober coasted in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:19.71.

The men also had a good showing. Junior All-American Cordero Gray finished first overall in the 60 meter dash. He matched his season best time at 6.73. Gray finished ahead of Oklahoma runner Rakieem Salaam.

Senior Ozie Hood placed fourth overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.70.

Freshman Lionel Mungwari placed fourth overall in the long jump with a distance of 7.05 meters.

For the season, 25 men and 24 women have qualified for the Southland conference championships.
