ARLINGTON - Texas - Senior guard Meghan Nelson scored 18 points in her last game at Texas Hall but UT Arlington fell 65-57 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday afternoon.
Nelson, along with fellow seniors LaTosha Duffey and Kiarra Shofner, played their last game in front of the fans at Texas Hall. UTA shot 30 percent (18-for-60) from the field including 11 percent on three pointers (1-for-9).
Junior Tamara Simmons joined Nelson in the 1,000 point club this afternoon, after Nelson did so earlier this season.
Shofner was the only other Mavs to join Nelson in double figures for scoring with 12. The Mavericks were also out rebounded 50-28, including 15 offensive rebounds for the Islanders.
Adrienne Scott led TAMUCC with 16 on 8-of-10 shooting. UTA held the lead at the half, 26-25, before TAMUCC outscored UTA 40-31 in the second half and fell down by as many as 18. The Islanders shot a blistering 60 percent in the second half.
The next game for the Mavs will be at the Southland Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
