Arlington, Texas - The third weekly regular season rankings for men's and women's track and field have been released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
UTA's men's team is ranked 55th in the nation in the latest rankings after falling five spots this week. The Mavericks are the top ranked Southland Conference team this week with Southeastern Louisiana being the next closest team at No. 58.
On the women's side, the Mavericks are the fourth-highest Southland Conference team behind Northwestern State (78th), Texas State (105th) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (134th). Nationally, the women's team is 139th.
Florida's men remained at No. 1 while Texas A&M kept a firm lead in the women's rankings.
Indiviudally, Cordero Gray's 10.28 100m time set three weeks ago at the Texas Relays is 11th in the nation and 4th in the West Region.
Jasmine Walls ran an 11.81 at the North Texas Spring Invite in the 100 meters and that is good for 35th in the West Region.
Antonia Hopkins is still firmly in the 200 meters in 25th place in the region while Walls is ranked 30th in the event with a 24.02 time set at the North Texas meet.
UTA's men's 4x100 relay team of Gray, Juan Lewis, Aundrea Williams and Andrew Pettis is just out of the top 24 with a time of 40.31 set at the Bobby Lane Invitational. They are just 17/100th out of moving into the qualification time.
Both men's and women's team are back in action this Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
