ARLINGTON, Tex. - The UT Arlington softball team won both games of a double header against North Central Wednesday evening at Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavericks won the first game 5-3, followed by a 6-0 shutout in game two. The wins put them at 5-0-1 during the fall season.
"Overall we played well and I got to see a lot of players get some swings," head coach Debbie Hedrick said. "We hit the ball and put up some runs in both games, and more importantly I got to see a lot of the kids get some playing time."
Kallan Thompson had three hits and a home run in the double header, and freshman Samantha Kennedy had another solid offensive performance for the Mavericks.
Teri Lyles pitched six innings and also hit two home runs in game one, while Callie Collins threw seven shutout innings in game two.
The Mavericks play again Thursday evening when they host the University of North Texas at Allan Saxe Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
