CONWAY, Ark. - Amy Davault posted a double-double in her first career start, but Central Arkansas came away with a 3-1 win over UT Arlington on Saturday in Conway, Ark.

The Sugar Bears (10-9, 5-2) hit .288 on their way to a 25-17, 24-26, 25-18, 25-19 victory.

"I would say overall we got off to way to slow of a start and gave Central Arkansas all the momentum," UT Arlington acting head coach Erin Clute said. "I was impressed we were able to get back into Game 2 and win it. I thought it would be turning point but Central Arkansas came back out in Game 3 and stepped it up and we did not.

"It was multiple areas of our game tonight. We would struggle offensively and then we would get that going and we wouldn't pass well or we wouldn't block well. It wasn't just one thing today."

Davault's play proved to be one of the greatest bright spot for the Mavericks (7-13, 3-3). The true freshman posted 12 kills and 10 digs while hitting .276. She also had two aces.

"Amy did a great job considering she had to play on the fly," Clute said. "The situation came up today and she stepped into Amanda (Aguilera)'s spot and did all we could have asked for from her. She was a bright spot and showed has a lot to offer."

Tara Frantz tallied a team-high 13 kills, marking the fifth time in six conference matches that she finished with double-digits in the category.

Alicia Shaffer led the Mavericks defensively with 20 digs.

Amanda Welsh added a double-double as well, meaning UT Arlington received double-doubles from two true freshmen. Welsh dished out 34 assists while coming up with 13 digs.

Charae Grosser compiled a career-high eight blocks to go along with her five kills.

For Central Arkansas, Jessica Nagy led four players with 12-plus kills. She finished with 17 kills while hitting .350.

UT Arlington continues its four-match road trip Thursday when it travels to Sam Houston State.
