ARLINGTON, Tex. - UT Arlington president James D. Spaniolo made an appearance at the newly renovated locker rooms on Monday afternoon.

Spaniolo took the opportunity to speak to and with athletes from men's and women's track and field, baseball and softball. During a speech that lasted a few minutes, Spaniolo delivered a message of pursuing excellence on the fields and track and also commended the athletes on their academic success.

All four teams now have upgraded locker room facilities, featuring new state-of-the-art wooden lockers as well as new paint and new carpet.

The teams took Spaniolo's visit as an opportunity to present him with gifts such as a baseball jacket, a softball T-shirt and hat and track shoes.

Spaniolo also thanked Mike Farhat, Dr. Marvin Applewhite and James Ditto for the roles in upgrading the facilities.

Farhat, Applewhite and Ditto were instrumental in the fundraising and implementation of the new locker rooms.
