After the No.59 Mavericks tough loss against No. 75 TCU Wednesday afternoon they regrouped and prepared for their conference match up against Texas State. UTA came out strong and completely dominated every match, winning 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
The win improved the nationally-ranked Mavericks to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in league action.
"It was a great overall effort by our team today" said head coach Diego Benitez. "We played really good in doubles and we were able to clinch the match with three quick victories. Texas State is a fearless team and we were happy that we could put seven points on the board."
UTA easily won the doubles point by securing wins in all three matches. Top doubles team of Daiana Negreanu and Linda Aqvist notched an 8-1 win against Melissa Hadad and Jessica Kahts while Giada D'ortona and Natalia Mayuk kept the wins coming with an 8-2 victory over Gabriela Rojas and B. Van Den Bergh in the No. 2 spot.
In the No. 3 position, Maria Martinez-Romero and Nikola Matovicova took care of business, recording their 10th win together against Jessica Laing and Mariana Perez.
The Mavericks headed into singles action with a 1-0 advantage and recorded the six singles flights in grand fashion.
Negreanu secured the top flight against Kahts, 6-4, 7-6 while Aqvist recorded a 5-4, 7-5 victory over Hadad in the No. 2 position.
In the No. 3 flight, Martinez-Romero picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win against Rojas while Mayuk won the No. 4 flight with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Laing.
D'ortona collected a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Perez in the No. 5 position while Matovicova recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Van Den Bergh in the No. 6 spot.
The Mavericks will be right back at the UTA Tennis Courts tomorrow for another Southland Conference match against UTSA. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
