Final Stats
Conway, Ark. - The UT Arlington women's tennis team opened Southland Conference action with an easy 7-0 victory against Central Arkansas Saturday in Conway, AR. With the win, UTA improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
UTA started tennis action with double competition where they won all three flights with ease. In the No. 1 doubles match, Giada D'ortona and Linda Aqvist easily won an 8-1 decision against Allison Hartman and Sasha Ruocco.
Natalia Mayuk and Daiana Negreanu defeated Kazumi Otani and Simona Horsikyan with an 8-0 win in the No. 2 flight while Maria Martinez and Nikola Matovicova recorded an 8-3 victory against Alex Rios and Maribelle Siegfried in the No. 3 spot.
With a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play, the Mavericks took their momentum from doubles play and completely dominated the Sugar Bears in all six of their singles matches.
Negreanu recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win against Horsikyan in the top flight while Martinez remained perfect in singles play winning a 6-1, 6-0 decision against Ruocco in the No. 2 spot.
In the No. 3 singles flight, Aqvist collected a 6-2, 6-2 win against Otani while Mayuk defeated Allison Hartman with scores of 6-1, 6-1in the No. 4 position.
Katarina Mlcochova recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot against Rios while D'ortona took care of Siegfried in the No. 6 flight, 6-1, 6-0.
The Mavericks are back in tennis action tomorrow when they take on Northwestern State at 11 a.m.
