
Women end season with 77-53 loss to UTSA

San Antonio, Texas - The UT Arlington women's basketball team ended their season with a 77-53 loss on the road to UTSA Saturday at the Convocation Center.
Freshman Desherra Nwanguma led the Mavs with 11 points and eight rebounds. Shalyn Martin recorded 10 points.
After tying the game for the second time at 7-7, Nwanguma put the Mavs up by one at the 15:09 mark. UTSA would go on a 16-2 run to lead by as many as 13 (24-11) at the 8:47 mark.
The Mavericks would cut the lead down to 11 at 37-26 right before the break.
UTA opened the second half on a 12-5 run to come within four points at 42-38 but the Roadrunners hot shooting led them on a 33-4 run to lead 75-41 with 5:05 left in the game.
The Roadrunners out-rebounded the Mavs with a 38-34 margin and recorded 38 points in the paint.
Four Roadrunners finished in double-figures with Alysse Davis leading the way with 22 points and six rebounds.
UTA finished the game shooting 34.6 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3-point range and 58.8 percent from the free throw line.
UTA ended their season with an 8-20 overall record and a 5-11 Southland mark.
