Final Stats

Huntsville, Texas - The No. 69 Mavericks improved on their perfect conference record Saturday afternoon when they defeated Sam Houston State 6-1 at the McAdams Center in Huntsville, Texas. UTA improved to 11-4 overall and 7-0 in conference action.

UTA won all three doubles matches and recorded five of the six singles flights. Linda Aqvist and Daiana Negreanu handed Nadia Dubyanskaya and Tatyana Postnikova an 8-3 loss in the top flight while Nikola Matovicova and Maria Martinez-Romero recorded an 8-5 victory in the No. 2 flight.

Giada D'ortona and Natalia Mayuk recorded an 8-2 win in the No. 3 flight against Imke Jagau and Natalie Petaia.

The Mavs moved to singles action where they recorded wins in the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 flights. Negreanu won the top flight against Jagau 6-1, 6-1 while Aqvist defeated Postnikova 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 position.

Martinez-Romer kept her conference singles record perfect by winning a 6-1, 6-1 decision against Dubyanskaya in the No. 3 position.

In the No. 4 position, Mayuk picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win against Currie while D'ortona earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 6 spot against Petaia.

Mlcochova was the lone Maverick to suffer a loss in the No. 5 spot against Botha 6-4, 6-4.

The Mavericks continue conference action tomorrow with a match up against Stephen F. Austin. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
