ARLINGTON, Tex. - The men's track & field team jumped to 34th in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the USTFCCCA unveiled this week.
UT Arlington has consistently been in the rankings this season but moved up in the new release, largely because of the jump in the rankings by Cordero Gray.
The senior sprinter bumped up to seventh in the nation in the 100m with a time of 10.12 at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. Not only did Gray win the event, he also broke the UT Arlington, meet and track record.
Romain Martin held strong in the decathlon, where he ranks second in the nation.
The men's 4x100m relay team dropped to No. 20 in the USTFCCCA. Pole vaulter Jeff Rodriguez currently ranks 38th and Lionel Mungwari sits 39th in the long jump.
Casey Keeter, 23rd in the shot put, and Ivan Storic, 42nd in the javelin, round out the ranked Mavericks.
