SAN MARCOS, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team fell to the Texas State Bobcats in a close 4-3 battle

Before Saturday's match these two teams were tied 4-0 in Southland play, but with this win from the Bobcats, the Mavericks drop in the standings.

This match marks the first time the Bobcats have defeated the Mavericks in women's tennis since 1991.

Texas State won the doubles point, but Giada D'ortona defeated her opponent during singles play for UT Arlington's first point of the match.

Natalia Mayuk and Natalia Matovicova also won thier singles point at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots, respectivley.

The women resume play when they head to Louisiana to face the Northwestern State Lady Demons Wednesday at 11 a.m.
