UT Arlington went 2-0 over the weekend after defeating Southland Conference foes UTSA and Corpus Christi both matching 5-2 scores.
The Mavericks (10-7, 6-2) struck early after winning the doubles points against the Roadrunners at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Senior and No. 1 singles player Maria Martinez-Romero defeated her UTSA opponent Stefanie Peana 6-1, 6-2. The Spain native completed her weekend with two wins playing at the No.1 spot for singles and doubles.
"We are coming back home with two great conference wins on the road," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said. "Maria did a great job leading the team with two huge wins at the No. 1 spot."
UTA also defeated conference rival Texas A&M Corpus Christi this weekend in a 5-2 victory.
After winning the doubles points, the Mavericks went on to win four of their six singles matches and picked up another win.
The women have a few days off before hosting crosstown neighbor SMU on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
