ARLINGTON, Texas - UT-Arlington's Lionel Mungwari, a rising senior, was named to the 2012 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team, the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday.

Mungwari, who sports a 3.29 GPA in accounting, was honored for the second consecutive year.

During the outdoor season, Mungwari qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries in both the long jump and triple jump. In addition to jumps, he also competes in sprint events for the Mavericks.

Mungwari placed third in the long jump (7.50m) and fourth in the triple jump (15.22m) at the SLC Outdoor Championships in May. He also was named to the 2012 Southland Conference All-Academic Team.
