WT: Mavs defeat Seattle U 5-2

SAN MARCOS, Texas-- The UT Arlington women's tennis team defeated Western Athletic Conference Seattle U 5-2 on Friday.

The women won the doubles point with Brooke Dennis and Elizabeth Thoms defeating SU at the No. 1 spot 8-2, and Christine Foote and Katarina Dikosavljevic won at the No. 3 position 8-1.

UT Arlington began singles up 1-0 for the second conference match in a row and built on that momentum.

Giada D'ortona defeated Anna Lambert in a quick 6-0, 6-0 match to take the win at No. 2 singles. Liucija Smaizyta also shutout her opponent at the No. 6 position. Thoms and Dennis won their singles competition, as the Mavericks took the match.

The Mavericks improve to 4-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play. UTA is back on the court Saturday as they face San Jose State at 10 a.m. in San Marcos.
