ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington scored a season high in Wednesday night's 85-72 victory over the Georgia State Panthers at College Park Center.

With the win, the Mavericks improved to 4-22 overall and 3-12 in Sun Belt Conference action. UT Arlington snapped a four-game losing streak and also swept the two-game season series over Georgia State.

"The second half has been our Achilles all year," UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "Today I felt like we had some players step up and hit some big shots."

UTA junior Tahlia Pope tied her career-high with 15 points. Freshman Allea Harris score in double figures for the first time since late November with 19 points.

The Mavericks jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage before Georgia State rebounded to its first lead. UT Arlington regained the lead with the help of two 3-pointers from Harris to take a 44-35 edge into halftime.

Early in the second half, GSU climbed within one point after a 9-0 run. Harris answered with a driving layup and the Mavericks regained control.

UT Arlington finished the game shooting 43.1 percent from the floor. The Mavericks had six score in double figures.

The Mavericks return to the court Saturday to host WKU Saturday at 5 p.m. at College Park Center. The UTA-WKU men's game follows at 7:30 p.m.
