MONROE, Louisiana - UT Arlington women's tennis swept ULM 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Heard Stadium.
"We switched things up things a little bit in doubles play and it paid off," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "I was proud of the team really taking care of business. We played good against a conference team and I'm glad we got the victory."
The Mavericks stepped out to an early lead, winning the doubles point. The Warhawks started the match at a disadvantage as they did not compete in one of the doubles matches. Angeles de los Rios and Elizabeth Thoms defeated Petra Horakova and Angela Tejedor 8-4 to give the Mavs the lead heading into singles play.
ULM's lack of players paid off again for the Mavericks as the Warhawks had to forfeit the No. 6 position.
De los Rios and Jessica Birowski won at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively to clinch the sweep for the Mavericks.
UT Arlington is back on the court Monday at 2 p.m. against Louisiana Tech at the UTA Tennis Center.
