"We reduced our double bogeys and three putts," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees. "But we are still not hitting enough fairways, which puts too much pressure on scoring the ball.
"We are going to make tomorrow our best day and get better. The guys understand they have to become more consistent tee to green. We have a lot of work ahead of us."
UTA freshman Aaron Guanlao fired a 1-over 73 to move up nine spots to a tie 28th. Jake Argento and Zach Galliford are tied for 40th, with Josh Radcliff sitting tied for 64th. Joss Gosling is tied for 71st.
"Aaron Guanlao had a very good ball-striking day," Jay Rees. "He just left some putts out there today. He could have been under par today. Galliford did a lot of positive things. He had one double bogey, but competed well out there."
The third and final round is Sunday.
