ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington picked up its third consecutive sweep and closed out the regular season in style on Sunday afternoon, sweeping past South Alabama 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-23) at the College Park Center.

The Mavericks (19-9, 10-6 SBC) will now head to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament next week as the No. 4 overall seed with play beginning Friday in Statesboro, Ga.

UTA did not put a single player in double-figure kills, but found balance across the board led by Stacey Koch's nine kills anad three blocks. Zhanelle Geathers scored seven kills and four blocks.

It was a quick start for UTA as the Mavs hit .241 in the first set and used an 8-1 run early on to create space between themselves and the Jaguars (13-14, 7-9 SBC) on their way to a 12-point win. UTA then withstood a late rally in each of the next two sets from USA to hold on and secure its third straight win and 12th sweep of the season.

Player Of Match
Caitlyn Cooney led all players with 18 digs, including eight in the second set. She now has 1,804 digs for her career and is just the fourth Maverick in program history to reach 1,800 digs for a career.

Stat Leaders
Cassidy Wheeler dished out 30 assists, while Qiana Canete just missed a double-double with eight kills and 14 digs. Geathers led all players with four blocks, all coming in the opening set. Koch led the team with nine kills.

Next Up For The Mavs
UTA will open up the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 4 overall seed on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga. The Mavs will take on No. 5 seed, and defending tournament champion Little Rock after splitting the two-match season series with the Trojans in the regular season. With a win the Mavs would secure their 20th win of the season and advance them to the tournament semifinals where they would take on either No. 1 Arkansas State or No. 8 Georgia Southern.
