Georgia Southern vs. Coastal Carolina
Post-Game Quotes
Coastal Carolina Head Coach Jozsef Forman
Opening statement …
"The first day when you start a tournament is not easy, but we started the game with the right energy. In the middle of the second set we struggle, but we won 3-0."
Talking about the third set and regrouping
"There's a flaw in Georgia Southern, I think it's a really good team because they are playing 6-2 and have a very strong right side player which means they can stop the right side hitters. In the third set Georgia Southern was hitting hard we for a little bit lost our momentum. But finally six players on the court make a decision "let's go and finish this game." And just brought back this energy and we won the game."
Leah Hardeman - MVP of the conference 13 pts today
"She got the MVP of the conference which means she has bring this performance, am I right? But seriously she is a really good player and I think after the first set there was a good dynamic and she found her power."
Preview of the game tomorrow for Texas State
"Texas State is number three in the conference and they are playing highly well. It will be the question of how will we be able to stay inside, get sideouts and communicate to win this game."
Georgia Southern Head Coach Dustin Wood
Opening statement …
"Think our kids just pressed too hard. They wanted it but just lack of execution. Offensively we just couldn't connect very well. We had to make a setter change. We struggled setting the ball and running the offense tonight, which had been kind of our Achilles heel. We had been on a good run. Just feel bad for the kids. They just pressed too hard tonight. Coastal Carolina was a lot better than us tonight."
On fifth-year seniors Alex Beecher and Katie Bange …
"Oh yeah, they've won a championship with me and we are really going to miss them. Those two are model student-athletes and are what Georgia Southern volleyball is all about. They've sacrificed a lot and this loss is not going to define their careers. They are winners and they've sacrificed a lot to be here for five years and go through the ups and downs. Their careers were amazing and they'll be greatly missed."
On having key contributions from underclassmen and the future of the program …
"It is bright. It is one of those things that we are looking for those kids that can compete. Our gym is getting better. It's just about finding the consistency of everything that we are doing in the gym. We are just a little inconsistent and sometimes we are a little young, which shows. The good thing is we are getting more experienced and a lot of it is development. We have a lot of work to do in the spring and I know that locker room is ready to get back there this week and start working. The future is bright, we have some good kids coming in also it's just also about finding the kids who want it the most."
