Postgame Notes

  • UTA improves to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. It is the second time UTA has started UTA in the Sun Belt, last coming in the 2014-15 season. Coastal Carolina fell to 5-7 and 0-2 in league play.
  • UTA hits the road for the first time in Sun Belt play when it travels to Texas State on Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. The game will be available on Spectrum Sports, available on Time Warner channel 323.
  • Cierra Johnson grabbed seven rebounds for the third time in her career. The feat is tied for third in single-game history. Johnson also moved into seventh in UTA career history with 194 steals for her career. She began the day in ninth as she passed Shalyn Martin (2007-11) and Stacie Terry (1994-98)
  • UTA was 0-10 from beyond the arc, its first game this season without a 3-pointer.
  • The Lady Mavs pushed their streak to nine games in forcing 20 or more turnovers as they were right on the mark on Saturday. UTA entered the day 11th in the nation in turnovers forced at more than 22 per game.
  • Rebekah VanDijk earned her sixth double-double of the season and 31st of her career with 14 points and 16 rebounds. The 16 rebounds was a season high and tied her career mark.
  • Cierra Johnson scored a game-high and her season high in points with 22.
  • Coastal Carolina led for 32:52 as UTA didn't grab a lead until the third quarter. UTA led for just more than four minutes.
