SAN MARCOS, Texas - No. 58 UT Arlington remained perfect in Sun Belt play after cruising through a Sun Belt pod hosted by Texas State on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mavericks earned 4-0 sweeps over ULM and host Texas State to improve to 16-3 overall and 4-0 in conference action. UTA has just one remaining match on its schedule, at North Texas on Saturday, before it heads to New Orleans for the SBC Championship beginning on April 21.
With Elizabeth Thoms sweeping through both singles matches, the UTA senior moved into fourth in UTA history for wins with 72.
Action opened with the continuation of UTA's dominance in doubles action of late. The Mavericks swept through the pair of matches with wins over ULM by the tandems of Thoms and Angeles de los Rios at No. 1 (6-2) and Jessica Birowski and Astrid Gehre at No. 2 (6-2).
Thoms and de los Rios made quick work of their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 finishes. Agustina Serio clinched the match in a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 4.
Against Texas State, Thoms and de los Rios won once again at No. 1 with a 6-4 match that was the doubles point clincher. UTA also picked up a win from Valeria Lopez and Serio at No. 3, 6-3.
Thoms was once again successful in singles against the Bobcats with a 6-1, 6-1 win at UTA's top spot. De los Rios won 6-2, 6-2 and Carla Cerdan Vives clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 result.
