ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's basketball announced the addition of Brooke Alexander, a transfer from Liberty University.

Alexander, sitting out the 2016-17 season due to transfer rules, is from Frisco, Texas and played at Prestonwood Christian Academy before taking her talents to Lynchburg, Va. for her freshman season.

"We are excited to add Brooke Alexander to our team and program," UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "We've recruited Brooke since we arrived at UTA and have a great relationship with her and her family. She brings length and athleticism to the perimeter plus versatility. She can play the 1 through the 4 for us and has a high basketball IQ. Her passing ability is what sets her apart I believe, but her work ethic and leadership will be invaluable to us. We are excited to have another local kid on our roster and having graduated from such a successful basketball and academic program is exciting."

Alexander started 16 of the 31 games she played for Liberty during the 2015-16 season, averaging 3.3 points per game. Her leadership came at the helm of the offense as she was third for the Flames with 51 assists overall.

At Prestonwood Christian Academy, the guard helped the Lady Lions reach their first-ever TAPPS 5A state final four in 2013 and win the first championship in 2014. She was a TAPPS 5A first team all-state selection in both her junior and senior seasons after being honored with a second-team selection her sophomore campaign.

She averaged 13.5 points per game and she led the team in assists, steals and 3-pointers made during the championship season.
