Postgame Quotes
UTA Head Coach Krista Gerlich
Opening statement …
"We are really proud of our girls fro battling through some adversity. Everybody contributed. Everybody stepped up. We were pretty good from beginning to end, which is something that we've been lacking a little bit. Ericka (Mattingly) had a really nice game and found some open looks for us in the first half against their changing zones, which was a little bit different for us to read at first. And I thought Beck (Rebekah VanDijk) did a nice job of finishing and running the floor. She just shows her versatility and just how much she has improved her game by doing things like that and finishing in transition. We had several girls step up and play well. Shelby (Richards) did a really nice job of scoring the basketball. Aysia (Evans) had some really good minutes and then obviously I thought that Breck (Clark) did a good job as well. A great team effort, a great team win and it just keeps our momentum running."
On adjusting to the defense played by ULM …
"For one thing, Monroe started in a 1-3-1 and then at the timeout they went to a 3-2. You are having to make some adjustments. About the time we were getting the looks right for the 1-3-1 they changed it on us, which is good coaching. They should do that; those are good adjustments. It is just a matter of our kids getting used to that. We have a lot of new players and it is difficult for them to really understand exactly what we are looking for against different defenses without really practicing them. And what I mean by that is just the short turnaround (on the schedule) and things like that. It just takes us a little while to make some adjustments but our kids did a nice job of finding those and making those adjustments at halftime."

On getting off to a strong start …
"I'm glad that we definitely took that from last game. We took what coach Gerlich said and we knew we had to start strong. We saw from the past and how we've started games and we finally learned a little bit and figured out how to get it done in the first quarter. I hope we can take that to next game."

On the win …
"We did really well as a team. We were playing hard. Like Ericka said we really wanted to come out at the beginning. That is how we got it going because we started out at the beginning with intensity and that is something we hadn't been doing the last couple of games. We didn't have to play catch-up this game. We got ahead and stayed ahead. Our coaches kept telling us to keep going and build on the lead. You saw that all the girls stepped up today. It was great."
