- UTA improved to 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2007-08, improving overall to 10-3. Texas State fell to 6-8 and 1-2. UTA won the third consecutive meeting between the I-35 rivals. However, Texas State leads the all-time series 38-31.
- Junior center Rebekah VanDijk posted her third-career 30-plus point game as she finished on the mark on Saturday. VanDijk is averaging 29.7 points against Texas State in the last three meetings, having 26 and 33-point outings in the 2015-16 season. Grabbing 14 rebounds, she earned her seventh double-double of the season and 32nd of her career.
- VanDijk inched closer to the 1,000-point club as her effort put her at 985 points, needing just 15 more to become the 18th player in UTA history to achieve the feat.
- UTA had its streak of forcing 20 or more turnovers snapped at nine games as Texas State had just 17. However, UTA converted a17-13 turnover advantage into a 17-6 point advantage. Ericka Mattingly and Christina Devers each led UTA with three steals.
- UTA outscored the Bobcats 42-14 in the paint.

- Texas State had three spurts in which it went more than five minutes without a field goal, including a seven-minute stretch to close the game without a point.
